Before I left Canada, I had done some preliminary research on birding in London, and for whatever reason, the sites I found were not that reliable. They said that one could do birding but that it was often early in the morning in parks before they get too crowded. I was trying to picture myself going out for a half-hour walk to Hyde Park at 5:30am to try to see birds, and as much as I love my mornings, I love being up early to take things easy and start the day relaxed! But it didn't turn out that way at all. Right from the day we moved into our flat, I started seeing all kinds of birds. It helps that my place is on the Thames, so there are waterfowl that I can see, in addition to the ubiquitous and notorious pigeons. I shall post these one by one as I did with my Canada-based bird blog to feature each bird. I've already seen 6 different species of birds (I haven't got a photo of the magpie yet), so I'm pretty excited, considering I haven't yet been here for a full 2 weeks!
I should mention that my cover photo is a Canada-based bird, the red-tailed hawk, because I don't have a suitable photo for my blog yet, but hopefully that will change as I continue to photograph birds in the UK.
Update! After getting such a fantastic photo of the rosy pelican, I was able to use a bird seen locally for my cover photo!
