My husband and I went on a short trip to Bath, and as always when I travel, I had my good camera with me. That meant I could also snap bird photos if I came across any. I didn't think I would, as we weren't planning to go to any natural areas, but as it turned out, I was able to capture 3 new birds on my trip! The first of these is the pied wagtail, a.k.a. white wagtail. Reading about them on the RSPB website, I've learned that they are pretty plentiful unlike their cousins, the yellow wagtail, almost 150,000 breeding couples across the UK as compared to just 38,000, respectively. I saw a yellow wagtail while I was doing my morning exercise walk the other day, but of course, I didn't have my camera, so I was disappointed not to get a photo since their population in the UK is threatened.
Anyway, it's always fun to see new birds. Being new to the country, every bird is pretty much a lifer for me right off the bat. Eventually that will die down the longer I live here, but it's always exciting to get photos of new birds when I go out. The photos aren't the clearest this time around because it was dully and cloudy outside, so the lighting wasn't the best, especially for these little critters that move quickly and hop around a lot, but you do what you can when you're not a professional!
Update 27/02/2022: My photo from Bath is now that last photo in the album at the end here. I guess I've been poor at updating my blog when I get new photos as I had the chance to get some much better photos since then--a number of them right on my own balcony! I was so excited about that. These little critters are just so cute.
