The only way I'd be able to tell the difference between the black-billed magpie and the Eurasian magpie would be to put them side by side--and even then, it might be hard. I do think they sound a little difference, and that might be the main difference between the two, but there has to be some other physical difference because even birds of the same species sometimes have different vocalisations depending on where they live. They have the same iridescent plumage and long tails--and they even have black bills! I'm not unhappy to see these, though, regardless of their species differences. I know that a lot of people at home find them annoying because they are scavengers, and they can be nasty as well, even stealing eggs to eat, but I find them quite beautiful. Like ravens, crows, and jays, they are also corvids, and they are quite intelligent birds with big personalities. I thought I'd miss them, but I won't have to, because I have some right here, flying around where I live and everywhere else in the country!
I highly recommend expanding the initial photo I posted because I was able to get a really nice close-up, so you can view this pretty bird in a lot of detail.
