Bar-headed goose (Anser indicus)

Writer: J GillJ Gill

One thing I've discovered here is that at London parks, there appear to be a variety of birds that were brought over as pets and either escaped or were let loose. They would have been considered exotic birds from various parts of the world. The bar-headed goose is one of them. They are not native to the UK, but they live and breed here now. Even though they aren't native to here, they are really pretty, and they're nice to see when you're out at a park. St James Park is close to Buckingham Palace, and there are a lot of different birds there, as well as just really beautiful gardens.
